** Note 2: Some of you have been able to leave comments on the blog while many others have sent me emails to say they are having problems. Could those of you who have figured it out please leave a comment to let us know what you did and I will post it to the blog. Hopefully everyone will be able to post comments after that.
Bill is feeling a lot better today (not 100%) but able to handle the bike with much more confidence. He was noticing, however, that the tread on the front tire looked a little low so we will be dropping into a local bike shop Monday AM to get it checked and/or changed then hit the Cabot Trail!!!
We started off with coffee at McDonalds and met a really nice couple (Shirley and Fred). They were going wilderness camping and riding off-road motorcycles. Through our conversation they realized that our revised route takes us right past their home and so they invited us to stay with them. Very generous of them and we said that we would see them in a few days.
We arrived in Baddeck this afternoon and the trip from Port Hawkesbury was outstanding. The view of the Bras d'or lakes from our hotel in Baddeck is even better! We have our own little cabin complete with fireplace overlooking the lakes. We walked down by the water and collected rocks and shells for our grandchildren, Chloe and Trystan. We walked to the Baddeck Lobster Suppers and had the meal that Jeanie has been waiting for (see photos below).
Shirley and Fred - see you in a few days!
View from our cabin window and deck.
Worth the wait!!!
They made Bill wear a bib! (diapers too).
Well we need to get some sleep now - Cabot Trail in the morning!!!!

Hi again
ReplyDeleteI had trouble posting at first. The only way that I was able to post a comment was by using my gmail address. I was not able to use any other email address.
So here is how I do it now:
Write a comment in the "Post a Comment" box.
When you are finished, in the box next to "Comment As"', you have to select a "Profile" from a drop down menu, select "Google Account".
You will have to type in your email address and your password for your gmail account.
Then click on "Post Comment".
After that, a password will be shown that you have to copy into a dialogue box.
Copy the secret word and press enter. That should do it!
If anyone has found a way to do it without having a gmail account, let us know!
Dave
Hi guys nice to hear your back on the road. I'm sure no matter what you're having a great time! Here's hoping the rest of your trip is on a "Carefree Highway"!!! BTW great shot of Jeanie crouching beside a discarded tire at the beach?????
ReplyDeletehey mom + dad..sooo glad you got your bike fixed so quickly and are having lots of fun regardless..it wouldn't be a findlay vacation without a few hurdles..keep leaping over them..ok, perhaps drive around them instead k ;) im really enjoying ur pics and commentary..have fun + be safe xoxo
ReplyDelete...btw for comments im using my hotmail email via my google account..interestingly its only allowing me to comment this way when using my mac and safari browser..no luck from my pc at work earlier today..hmm..i see above that dave j is only able to use a gmail acc to comment so im not sure if its a google or internet explorer issue or what (i didnt have time to start up a gmail acc to test today)..whatever the issue, i hope everyone gets it figured out to their satisfaction so they can take part as you continue to unfold your epic journey...
