Day 5 - Thursday August 11 - Off The Ropes...

See anything different in this picture???

This morning, in Woodstock, NB  we woke up this from a decent sleep in a great Hotel ready to carry on.  Took the bike over to" Dave's Sports Centre" for 9AM.  We were greeted by Mark the service manager.  He called over Elton, the mechanic -  not the pop star, and they had a pow-wow over the bike engine as they rev'd the throttle over and over.  They both concluded that the problem was a worn cam-shaft in the rear cylinder..

So off came the top of the cylinder and voila!!! - a worn cam shaft appeared.  They both doubted that we would have made it home.

They are air-lifting the parts from...   wait for it...  Toronto - of all the irony.   If the parts com in by 11AM as expected then we will be back on the road by noon.

In the mean time Mark let us take the demo Honda shadow for the day so that we could see some sites, go out for lunch, etc.  See below...

 World's longest covered bridge!

Cars enter one at a time.

Enjoying a tall cool "Moosehead" while we wait to see if the bike can be fixed by tomorrow.  If not then we are stuck here until Monday.
Hope the "Moosehead" keg holds out!!!!!

  1. Wow, that is disappointing news. But it is a good thing that you got the bike looked at and the problem diagnosed. If you had kept going, you could have been stranded in some remote place and not had the quick access to parts Let's hope the new camshaft gets there tomorrow.
It's all part of the adventure, and you got to see some sights that you hadn't planned on! It is a good thing that you planned to go for as long as you did or time would be a MAJOR issue.
    Take care.
