We've waited a loooonnnng time for this trip and if the first day is any indication of the rest of the trip then we'll be taking many more!

Here's a synopsis...
Weather: Rained off and on from Toronto to Tupper Lake. Very humid! Removed rain gear as sky cleared and temp and humidity became lower.
The route: 401 to Gananonque, crossed border without incident, Hwy 3 (plus many side roads) to Saranac Lake.
Accommodations: Best Western, very good.
Dinner: Local Italian restaurant

I think the food will be a lot better in Nova Scotia.
